The Powerhouse fire burning in California has consumed 30,000 acres and destroyed six homes. CNN’s Dan Simon reports.

The 2013 Powerhouse Wildfire is in North Los Angeles County, and has burned more than 30,000 acres. The Powerhouse fire is 95% contained. The fire peaked on June 3, 2013. As of June 10, 2013 there were 58 structures lost in the Powerhouse fire.

The Powerhouse Fire broke out around 3:30 p.m. Thursday May 30, 2013 north of Santa Clarita, along San Francisquito Canyon Road. On May 30, 2013, the fire had charred about 1,400 acres of rugged and steep terrain and was 15 percent contained.

The National Interagency Fire Center’s (NIFC) Predictive Services unit is forecasting above normal potential for significant fire activity in the West Coast states, the Southwest, and portions of Idaho and Montana.
Most of the state of California is included in a “Fuels & Fire Behavior Advisories” area.
