VIDEO: 6 Killed in Fully-Involved House Fire in Pottsville, Pennsylvania


Firefighters from Pottsville Fire Department and surrounding communities battled a second alarm blaze involving entrapment of six victims.

Pottsville Fire Department responded at 11:55 PM Sunday, May 13, 2013 to a report of a house fire with entrapment at 231 Pierce Street in the City of Pottsville. Schuylkill County 9-1-1 Transmitted Box 37 for the address. Police were first on the scene and confirmed a fully-involved house fire.

The 9-1-1 center received multiple calls reporting a fire with multiple people trapped within the home. Engine 11, Engine 32, Ladder 21, and Ladder 51 were primary units at the scene (More details, see FireandFilm.com 6 people killed in Pottsville house fire).


Fire tore through a family’s eastern Pennsylvania home on Mother’s Day, authorities said, killing four young children, their father and another relative while their mother was across the street doing laundry at a friend’s house.

Two adults and four children were killed in the fire. Two victims were found in the back bedroom on the third floor, one in a middle room on the third floor, and three in the front bedroom on the third floor.

At least five firefighters received minor injuries in the fire.
