Buffalo Grove police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 10:10 PM Tuesday May 28, 2019 to a report of a crash at Lake Cook Road and Buffalo Grove Road Buffalo Grove, Il. Police and firefighter/paramedics discovered a crash involving a minivan and a severely damaged vehicle with at least one person unresponsive and entrapped in the severely damaged vehicle.
The crash is located in the eastbound lanes of Lake Cook Road, just west of Buffalo Grove Road. A witness of the crash scene reported the severely-damaged vehicle was not recognizable, that the vehicles appeared to be partially off the road, and that a lot of crash debris covered Lake Cook Road.
Command requesting additional resources for extrication, then reported the patient was extricated by 10:28 p.m.
One patient transported, with an extra medic onboard in the rescue ambulance, to Level I Trauma Center Advocated Lutheran General Hospital.
At least three people were reported injured and transported to local hospital(s).
At 10:35 p.m. eastbound Lake Cook Road was backed up to Raupp Boulevard, and southbound Buffalo Grove was backed up to Church Road near St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Westbound Lake Cook Road west of Buffalo Grove Road was also blocked during rescue operations for the crash.
Roadways and travel were affected by heavy rain, lightning and thunder at the time of the crash and rescue operation.
