North Portland warehouse fire started underneath structure, but involved contents such as vehicles, a boat, carpet padding and other synthetic materials.
Portland Fire & Rescue responded about 10:00 p.m. Sunday, May 14, 2017 to a warehouse fire at 1300 North River Street. No injuries were reported. The building was a total loss and fire was still burning under floor after more than 12 hours of firefighting operations. Two fireboats were also dispatched to fight the fire.
The property had a reputation for numerous violations, an unpermitted marijuana growing facility, squatters and rave parties.

KOIN 6: The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency are working to get rid of the asbestos-containing debris. It may have spread as far as 2 miles on each side of the Willamette River.
