Ekom Beach Volunteer Fire Dept. Station Destroyed by Fire


VIDEO: Fully-involved fire at Ekoms Beach Fire Station 15 in Laurens County, South Carolina.

Two fire engines, a tanker, a brush truck and a service truck were lost in a fire that destroyed the entire fire station in Laurens County about noon on Friday, March 29, 2013. The fire station was located on Neely Ferry Road, just southeast of Ekom Beach Road in Laurens County and about 40 miles south of Greenville, South Carolina.

The fire is under investigation by the State Law Enforcement Division (SLED), South Carolina.

Laurens County (population 66,537 in 2010) was formed in 1785 and named after the third president of the Continental Congress, Henry Laurens. The Battle of Musgrove Mill in Laurens County was the first battle of the American Revolution when regular soldiers of Great Britain were defeated by the militia.
