Middleton Fire Department responded about 9:30 p.m. to a house fire on Highway 44 just west of Duff Lane near Middleton, Idaho.
Firefighters worked to extinguish the fire, but heard a cry for “help” and “fire” but couldn’t find anyone during the search of the house. They used thermal image cameras to help find what they thought was an elderly female calling for help. No people were home, but they did find two parrots sitting on a table. The parrots were rescued and treated with an oxygen mask. The fire was contained to one room.
After treatment with oxygen, one of the parrots began to imitate the sound of the sirens.
