Wednesday, February 25, 2015 was a bad day for for school bus travel across the United States. School bus crashes and a school bus fire were reported in Louisiana, Maryland, Illinois, Texas, Massachusetts, and Pennsylvania.
Louisiana State Police: 11 injured in school bus crash in Rapides Parish; School Bus Fire on Briggs Chaney Road near Great Oak Lane in Silver Spring, Maryland; No Injuries or Minor Injuries in Rollover School Bus Accident After Axle Broke in Lake Villa, Illinois
About 6:15 a.m. Wednesday eleven children were injured in a crash on LA Highway 121 south of LA Highway 496 in Rapides Parish. The school bus was northbound on LA Hwy 121 when the driver encountered a large amount of mud on the roadway. The school bus driver lost control of the school bus, which left the roadway and landed on its side. Eleven children and the driver suffered minor to moderate injuries and were transported to area hospitals. The children ranged in age from five to fifteen.
A Montgomery County (Maryland) school bus caught fire on its route Wednesday morning about 7:00 a.m. on Briggs Chaney Road near Great Oak Lane in Silver Spring, Maryland. Students were evacuated and transferred to another bus. No injuries were reported.
About 3:35 p.m. Wednesday a school bus with a mom working as driver and three or four children on board rolled over off road after a broken axle failed on East Grand Avenue Near Deep Lake Road. No serious injuries were report. The driver’s three children were on board the bus.

About 8:00 a.m. Wednesday, a school bus was transporting two district employees and one child when it slid on ice and rolled over in the 5700 block of Lake Ridge Parkway in Grand Prairie, Texas
About 8:00 a.m. Wednesday, a motorcyclist was rushed to Ben Taub and listed in critical condition after crashing into the side of a Klein ISD school bus, police reported. No children were injured in the crash in northwest Harris County, Texas.

A school bus was rear-ended by a car at Roosevelt Boulevard near Kelly Drive in Philadelphia Wednesday morning. Nine children were on board. The driver of the car was injured, but was able to walk to the ambulance that transported the driver to the hospital.
