A Brentwood police officer Stephen Arkell was killed Monday in a shooting at a house that eventually exploded and was consumed by flames.
Brentwood, New Hampshire police responded about 4:45 p.m. Monday to 46 Mill Pond Road after a domestic disturbance and shooting was reported at the home, which appears to be a duplex multi-family home.
The explosion occurred about 5:50 p.m. in the home located in the Mill Pond Crossing — described as the very first 55+ community in Brentwood, New Hampshire. The neighborhood is in a wooded setting with attached and detached condominiums.

During a press conference Monday night, New Hampshire Attorney General Joseph Foster confirmed that Brentwood police officer Steve Arkell, 48, was shot and killed when he responded to a reported domestic disturbance at 46 Mill Pond Road.
Police believe that Michael Nolan set a fire that was involved with an explosion of the home after police responded to the home on a domestic disturbance call.
One person was transported to Exeter Hospital and is undergoing treatment at the hospital.
