Firefighters Rescue 4 Dogs from House Fire on 5th Street in Coplay, Pennsylvania (Pre-Arrival Video)

Video shows forcible entry to a house fire with rescue and treatment of four dogs that were inside the house in Coplay, Pennsylvania (VIDEO CREDIT: newsworking).

Coplay firefighters responded about 6:53 p.m. Tuesday May 21, 2019 to a report of a smoke coming from the roof of a house in tht 99 block of South Fifth Street between Coplay Street and Center Street.

Lehigh County transmitted the box for a house fire, dispatching sening Engines 511, Rescue 541, Whitehall Quint 3 (LC3831), Engine 13 (LC 3811) and Medic 62 (Cetronia).

Whitehall Deputy 35 (Bilder) arrived and reported smoke showing and transmitted a second alarm with entrapment. Neighbors told the chief that an elderly woman resides in the house. The neighbors said they were sure if the woman was inside along with four dogs. After dogs were rescued, it was determined that the woman was not home.

A cat was also inside the house, but firefighters could not rescue the cat because it kept running away from them.

The dogs treated by EMS from Lehigh Valley Health Network. One of the dogs was not alert, and appeared semi-conscious, but all survived.

According to newsworking fire videographer Bill Rohrer, first-due Whitehall Quint 3 arrived first, and led out with a hand line to the side door. Engine 511’s crew arrived second and assisted Quint 3’s crew..

Whitehall Engine 4 arrived and a crew of two went in the front door to conduct a search, according to .

Firefighters found a small kitchen fire and extinguished the fire. Firefighters checked for extension, provided cross ventilation, and vented the roof.
