Park Ridge police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 10:01 a.m. to 1118 West Touhy Avenue to a report of a serious crash with a woman trapped in a vehicle.
Police on arrival by 10:03 a.m. confirmed that a woman was trapped in her vehicle.
Ambulance 35’s crew on arrival at 10:05 a.m. reported two vehicles with heavy damage.
Battalion Chief 36 reported a T-bone type crash with a semi-trailer truck also involved, and reported there were enough resources on the scene.
After extrication, Park Ridge firefighter/paramedics transported the woman they rescued to Level I Trauma Center Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Mary Ann Neil, age 68, of Des Plaines, was driving a 2016 Kia eastbound on Touhy Avenue near Chester Avenue when her vehicle crossed lanes and struck a 2000 Mack truck with a semi-trailer dump trailer shortly before 10 a.m.
Neil’s car then struck a 2011 Chevy that was also eastbound on Touhy Avenue, according to Park Ridge police.
The other drivers involved in the crash suffered injuries not initially believed to be life-threatening, police said.
