Illinois State Police, Chicago police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 11:20 PM Thursday December 14, 2017 to a report of a crash with injuries on the northbound Dan Ryan Expressway at 41.787276, -87.630650 (Dan Ryan Expressway and 59th Street Chicago, Il ). The first fire crew on arrival reported a truck, car crash with debris on the roadway. A truck crash with a small silver Chevrolet caused bottles of Coffee-mate creamer to be scattered across the Dan Ryan Expressway (I-90/94).
Engine 54’s crew initially requested two more ambulances for a total of three. An EMS Field Chief was also assigned by 11:31 p.m.
Engine 54’s next requested an EMS Plan 1 by 11:35 p.m.
Emergency vehicles entered from 55th Street, an headed southbound in the northbound lanes.
Four people were seriously injured and transported to Level I Trauma Center Cook County Stroger Hospital.
Battalion Chief 19 at 11:45 p.m. requested a plow from IDOT to push debris off the roadway. The debris made it hard to drive on the Dan Ryan Expressway.
Battalion Chief 19 reported that the contents the truck was carrying only consisted of coffee creamer.
The EMS Plan 1 secured by 11:51 p.m. All ambulances are loaded and leaving the expressway about 11:51 p.m.
