Naperville police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 1:02 AM Friday to a report of crash with injuries at 41.806512, -88.154621 (WB I-88 and Mile Marker 125.75 Naperville, Il). Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report of a wrongway crash on westbound I-88 just east of Mills Road.
Three people were reported killed in the crash. At least one person was dead at the scene.
The crash involved a 2007 Chrysler and a 2012 Toyota. The driver of the Toyota was eastbound in the westbound lanes when the driver’s Toyota hit the Chrysler 300 head-on with two vehicle occupants in the Chrysler.
Firefighters returned to the scene about 3:00 a.m. to extricate at least one victim’s body that was involved in the crash and remained in the crash during investigation.
Westbound I-88 traffic was diverted off interstate at Naperville Road during rescue operations and an extended investigation. Westbound I-88 was still closed at 6:15 a.m.
Initially some traffic was getting by on the shoulder.
