Officer Chris Golubski’s attempted to pull over a driver in an SUV Sunday on a suspected traffic violation near Missouri Highway 150 and East Outer Road.

“The vehicle accelerated quite a bit and within about 16 seconds lost control and left the roadway and flipped over several times,” according to Sgt. Dean VanWinkle.

The driver of the SUV was ejected from the SUV and suffered traumatic cardiac arrest and multiple broken bones. Golubski started CPR, and a nurse also on the scene confirmed that the man had a pulse. Paramedics transported the driver to a local hospital. Eventually the driver was transferred out of the Intensive Care Unit.

Police say alcohol and speed contributed to the crash.

The man was driving on a revoked license.
