UPDATE: The suspect is in custody after surrendering. A total of eleven people were transported to local hospitals. At the initial press conference at about 5:10 MT, Colorado Springs Police Department spokeswoman Katherine Buckley reported that she could not confirm whether there were any fatalities, and did not have information that the suspect was shot.
Lt. Buckley said it would not even be reasonable to speculate on a motive with the suspect in custody for only 15 minutes.
Colorado Springs police responded about noon Friday to a report of an active shooter incident in the parking lot of a Planned Parenthood clinic, 3480 Centennial Boulevard. The gunman shot multiple people, including at least one police officer, then barricaded himself inside Planned Parenthood, according to Mike Violette, the executive director for the Colorado Fraternal Order of Police.
There are early reports of at least one person killed, and four police officers wounded. The suspect was described as wearing a long coat and a hunting-style hat. The suspect may have a long rifle capable shooting over 600 yards.
Colorado Springs Police Department reported the scene is not secure. A possible barricade situation suspected.
