Dashboard camera video shows a Texas police officer and motorist saving a woman from car just before it becomes fully involved with fire.
Garland police officer Michael Mallison discovered a crash on August 21, 2015 on US Highway 80 near Big Town Boulevard in Mesquite. Mallison went to work and got into the back seat of the car to lift a female driver who was injured. With heat building and smoke building Mallison and other motorist were able to pull Claudia Ortega from the car and move her to a safe distance from the car.
Shortly after she was removed from the car, the car became fully-involved with flames. Apparently Ortega fell asleep after working an overnight shift and crashed into the center median of the highway.
She suffered only a broken ankle, and possibly some other minor injuries.
