Sparks and Electrical Arcing from Metal Garbage Can on Third Rail at MTA Subway as Worker Attempts to Remove the Can


Mta subway worker in 3rd rail explosion caused by subway vandals who put a metal garbage can on the tracks.

An MTA subway worker was removing a garbage can off of a subway track on 6 Line at the Cypress Avenue Station in the Bronx on Sunday, May 3, 2015 when severe arcing occurred. Initial reports claim the worker was not injured.

The YouTube publisher DJ Hammer that caught the arcing on video reports that the “Conquestors” vandal group may have thrown a garbage can on the tracks. Arcing occurred when the worker attempted to remove the can with piece of wood.
