VIDEO: KOMO/KING5 News Helicopter Crash Near Seattle Space Needle


PRE-ARRIVAL VIDEO captured seconds after a KOMO/KING5 News helicopter just after takeoff from the news station.

A KOMO/KING5 helicopter crashed in Seattle near the Space Needle at 7:38 a.m. local time. At least four vehicles on the street were fully-involved with fire.

Seattle Fire Department so far reported that a 37-year-old man was transported with critical injuries, and that two victims are “DOA” at the scene. The 37-year-old male was able to get himself out of his vehicle.

The pilot and a photographer/videographer on board the helicopter were killed.

A news helicopter crashed near the Space Needle tower in downtown Seattle on Tuesday, killing two people on board and setting cars on fire as it burst into flames. The helicopter fell to the street during an attempt to take off from a helipad atop a TV news station near the Space Needle, Seattle Fire Department spokesman Kyle Moore told reporters.
