Video of Daytona Beach minivan rescue direct from Simon Besner/Independent Photographer.
Passersby and lifeguards on Tuesday, March 4, 2014, arrived to rescue a woman and her three children, who were drifting away from a beach at Daytona Beach into the Atlantic Ocean. Rescuers pulled the incoherent mother/driver and her children out of the minivan as it was filling with water.
The mother and three children — age 10, 9, and 3 — were transported to Halifax Health Medical Center as a precaution. Witnesses reported one Daytona Beach lifeguard carried two children from the ocean waters. Another lifeguard climbed out of the rear hatch area with the third child.
