Firefighters fight a house fire with a lot of low-lying smoke on Pine Tree Ln in Winnetka (VIDEO CREDIT: Larry Shapiro).
Winnetka firefighters responded about 9:04 p.m. Wednesday to a report of a house fire with smoke showing from the attic. A police officer arrived first and reported heavy smoke coming from the vacant home, that was up for sale.
The Winnetka battalion chief called for a working fire response (Code 4) upon the news from the police officer on scene. On arrival crew met with heavy smoke conditions and a fire through the roof or soon to go through the roof. Heavy smoke conditions were brought to the front of the house by increasing southwest winds (SW 9 MPH at 9:00 PM and SW 17 MPH G 24 MPH at 9:52 PM).
At about 9:31 p.m. the Battalion Chief 28 requested a Box Alarm #28-F1 for mutual aid fire companies. Below is the response list from CHICAGOFIREMAP.NET
