Gardena (pop. 58,829) is a city located in the South Bay (southwestern) region of Los Angeles County, California, United States. The population was 58,829 at the 2010 census, up from 57,746 at the 2000 census. The city of Gardena has among the highest percentage of Japanese citizens in mainland North America.
Compton (pop. 96,455) is southeast of downtown Los Angeles and is one of the oldest cities in Los Angeles County, and is generally a working class city.
The city of Compton and South LA is notorious for its heavy concentration of gangs and gang violence, such as the Bloods, the Crips, and Sureños, which all originated in the Los Angeles area.
Carson (pop. 91,714) Carson is the newest municipality in the South Bay region of Metropolitan Los Angeles — incorporated in 1968, about four years before the premiere of EMERGENCY!
The television show EMERGENCY! was a medical drama and action series mainly about the firefighters and paramedics of Los Angeles County — especially “Station 51” which was portrayed by the real Station 127. The series ran from January 15, 1972 until May 28, 1977.
