DASH CAM VIDEO: Fiery Crash After Semi ‘Ramps’ Off Highway.
Police say a semi-trailer truck driver in Indiana went for a wild ride after he was forced off the roadway by another vehicle. Amateur video shows the truck ‘ramp’ off a highway and hit a guardrail, causing its fuel to ignite.
The semi-trailer truck driver received only minor injuries.
Indiana State Police responded about 1:39 PM after the truck crash near Interstate 74 and U.S. 421.
Senior Indiana State Trooper David Noah that truck driver Ryan Young of Owenton, Kentucky was eastbound on I-74 when another vehicle drifted into his lane. He swerved to avoid the other vehicle, ran off the south side of the interstate, up a hill then through the guardrail.
The semi-trailer truck then continued eastbound as it “ramped” the U.S. 421 interchange before striking another guardrail. The impact with the guardrail tore off the saddle fuel tanks, causing the fuel to ignite.
Ryan Young received some minor facial and head injuries. His son, who was a passenger, received only a few scratches. Both victims were transported to Decatur County Hospital. The crash is under investigation.
