Robinson R22 Helicopter Crash in Downtown Honolulu — Firefighter Arrival Video


There were no major injuries when a small helicopter crashed on a busy street in downtown Honolulu. The chopper damaged a parked car.

Honolulu firefighters responded about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday to the crash of a small helicopter on Fort Street between Kukui Street and Beretania Street. The Robinson R22 crashed on top of a sedan parked at the curb on Fort Street. Both the 30-year-old female pilot, and the 71-year-old male passenger refused medical treatment. The helicopter had engine failure at a 3,000 foot altitude.

Mauna Loa Helicopters was hired by Aerial Photography Hawaii to help them shoot video, according to the pilot. Aerial Photography Hawaii specializes in panoramic imaging, virtual tours and oblique-scenic photography, according to their website.
