Battalion Chief Stephen L’Heureux interviewed at the scene of a house fire that caused heavy damage to the interior of a house.
North Providence firefighters responded shortly before 12:30 a.m. April 1, 2013 to a house fire at 6 Metcalf Avenue. The Fire Alarm office received several calls for a house fire after the homeowner initially called for help. First arriving companies reported heavy fire showing from the second floor of a two-and-a-half story wood frame dwelling and called a “code red.” An additional engine and ladder were requested on top of the working fire assignment. Crews were able to quickly gain entry on the “B” Side (Sector 2) and begin an interior attack on the second floor.
Occupants “self rescued” prior to arrival of firefighters.
The fire was brought under control in about 40 minutes with five engines and three trucks on the scene. Battalion Chief Stephen L’Heureux says no one was injured and the two occupants were able to safely escape. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the fire marshal.
